Popular Music Online

Popular Musicology Online is an academic journal on the World Wide Web. PMO was established in 2000 and is independently published. It is the online successor to the hardcopy journal Popular Musicology Quarterly and incorporates and extends the remit of its predecessor. Popular Musicology Quarterly was established in 1995 at the Popular Music Research Unit of Salford University in England.

PMO is exclusively published online and is an un-funded, free academic resource made accessible to the scholarly and the general public. These target beneficiaries are groups that usually have keen interest in debates about popular music. PMO is composed of an international advisory panel of leading popular musicologists. PMO is an innovative voice in the critical development approaches to the field.
